I went up to Yosemite to try out my Infrared camera that I had converted
My camera is a Sony A7R3, it is now converted to 850nm. The Blue sky will turn dark to black, it all depends on where the sun is. Green objects will look white. So you might think that it’s just Black and White but you can see the difference with the trees and grass will look white.

He lost his head,
Yep.. real image. you wait till he steps into the sun,, then raise the shutter speed till the shaded background disappears. The Sensor is not able to see anything in the shade.

I was far away across the bay at the Cabrillo Lighthouse Federal Park,
It was foggy all day, It had a very thick cloud / haze in the air, To bad it didn't have nice sun to show off the color of the plane,

Some from the Safari Park , Escondido CA Mid October 2020
This was taken in Borrego Springs, Aug 8th 2020
Yes the Quarantine is still going on and the area is closed, but at night there is no one around but you and the coyotes.
Yes there was some out that night. Earlier at another location I could hear some behind me in the darkness panting and following me through the Desert. They kept their distance and I didn't feel threatened at all. It was why to hot out there,
When I first arrived in Borrego Springs at 7 pm it was 102°, at 11 pm when I left it was much cooler at 88°.
At another location later that night I did hear the Coyotes kill something. The sound that came from that was crazy.
Sounded like there was at least 5 in the group doing the killing.
As to the photo, I used two of those Harbor Freight LED lights, one to camera left and another just to the right of the camera. I need to get some light on that horse in the back.
I focus on the Miner with my flashlight to help it grab focus. Set the focus then to manual and the aperture to F5.0
then at around 10 second exposure.
Then for the Star's to be in focus I then manually set the focus to the stars. Set the aperture to F/1.8.
Then is Photoshop blended the two shots taken. If you only take one picture one of the objects in the photos would be out of focus.
This is a new location for the Miner and his Horse. They also moved the Battling Sheep from a private gated community. To bad the Sheep were up on a slope and you could get a shot from much lower and have the Milky Way much higher in the sky.

On the way home from Monument Valley I stopped over at the Grand Canyon, (it's on the way home).
I just spent a few hours there then headed back home in the morning. Maybe I'll head back when the weather gets stormy and get some more pic's.

Horseshoe Bend, at Page AZ in Nov,
It is now become a high tourist location that they have put in gates and a paved parking lot with a Toll Booth. $10 now to visit this place.
This image was taken 25 yards north of the newly installed guardrails / concrete viewing area. Here you get out far enough from the overhang you see on the left from blocking the river.
As you can see, no clouds so I used a Reverse Grad filter to help block the brightness from the sun. Taken with the new Sony A7RIV 62MP, Sony 16-35mm F/2.8 GM Lens @ F/11

Downtown San Diego,
Sunset Cliffs, February
April 28th,
I had the day off and decided to go to the San Diego Safari Park. Instead of taking pictures of the animals I went to take some images not normally taken.
I'm waiting for the Flamingo's to step into the sunlight and the background and surroundings are in the shade. With a very fast shutter speed (2500 of a second) and a small f/stop the camera's sensor can only see what is in the sun and the rest just fades out to black. It's not easy and it takes time for the right shot.

A little Focus Stacking, These image has multiple pictures blended together. I'm wanting the background to have a nice looking blur and the object I want to be in focus.

Tulasi
Was out doing Real Estate photos today. This old building in downtown San Diego had some large windows that let in some nice natural light.
Tulasi works for one of the Real Estate companies I do work for and was with me at the property. Couldn't pass up some nice light.

Borrego Springs Aug 7th, It was 107° out there and very windy so I wasn't
able to get some of the shots I wanted due to the blowing sand. When the wind blows that hard the Sculptures move in the wind. (so no good long exposures). These were taken at my normal night star settings. ISO 1250, Canon 24mm F/1.4 @ F2, Shutter 8 seconds. Canon 5D Mark III. See more from past days at Borrego Springs "Click Here" |

Selena's Photoshoot May 25th, 2015
Wanted to do something different than just doing workout photos for Selena Fitness photoshoot. To start I didn't want to do a full silhouette as to we wanted to show Selena's tone body details just a little so I used just one strip box with a grid to light her just from one side. The first set of black backgrounds I used two strip boxes with grids on either side. The laying down pic's had a strip box on a boom above her. |
